Sun, 26 Nov 3pm - late. Migas and Funk Fever present a family-friendly daytime disco: FUNKY FAMILY. Featuring music from DJs Cad 73, Boflex, and Kel (of CRIs The Groove Sessions). This one-time only event celebrates the soul, energy, and music of the late Funk Fever Co-Founder, DJ and long-time Beijinger, rOobin G.
Donations and a portion of all food & drink spendings will go into a fund for his wife Katrin and two kids Leo and Henry. Let's help this young family rebuild their lives without this beautiful soul.

FUNK*FEVER | The last Dance
It's been over seven years since three DJs (Bite-Size Buddha, Perman and Martin Star) came together to fill the void that was in Beijing's underground nightlife scene
at the time - there was Techno, a little bit of House, and some commercial Hip Hop, but there was no Funk, no Soul, no classic Hip Hop, no Disco, no grooooooove.
From humble beginnings in Club Obiwan, the Funk took hold and their little Funksperiment caught afire, which turned into flames, as the boys took their monthly party to different spots around the city, throwing down at Dos Kolegas and Yugong Yishan, where they put on two unprecedented events that helped raise money for Haiti Earthquake relief, and awareness for World Refugee Day, with the UNHCR.
Finally, they found a home at the newly opened Migas, and it was their two year anniversary party that helped catapult themselves and Migas into another stratosphere.
Parties got bigger and ideas flowed, James Brown Day, Hawaii Funk-O, Moustache Parties for Movember and collaborations with Skullcandy, Dienastie Eyewear (Funkglasses at Night) and Plastered 8 set the monthly party apart from others, and dare we say, helped pave the way for more musical diversity in our fair Capital.
As all good things come to an end, so do our Funky parties end here in Beijing, as head man Bite-Size Buddha says farewell to Beijing after nearly nine years gracing the decks at numerous venues, so too moves the Funk Fever party to other parts of the world.
Have no worries or nostalgia, just join us for this final Funky throwdown, and let the Mothership land atop Migas one more time for some serious Funkification, as Martin Star and Pimp Daddy Suiki return, alongside Perman and of course Bite-Size Buddha for an unforgettable Funky Farewell Bash.
So, strap on your get down shoes and get on up to the Migas terrace for a final night of Funkin'!!!

A Musical Odyssey Into Awareness
Attention discerning party people!
Funk*Fever in conjunction with the office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) are hosting a monster musical extravaganza to mark World Refugee Day.
Friday June 18th, at Yugong Yishan, no less than four heavyweight bands will team up with those funky DJs and
ABCDJ Patrick Yu, as well as Eddie LV to bring you styles ranging from Afrobeat to Blues to Funk to House that will keep you dancing 'til the early hours! Each a headliner in their own right, this is a lineup never seen before in the capital.
But at the same time as getting folks to dance themselves into a stupor, we will be drawing attention to an important global issue that will effect all of us more and more in coming years.
We will screen the documentary 'Sierra Leone's Refugee All Stars' at 19:30pm before the musical program kicks off at 21:00 and the second floor will house a photography exhibit. These musicians are coming together for a great cause, we hope you will too!

Get ready to rumble in the concrete jungle! The fantastic Funk*Fever fellas along with crazy live beat-maker Jekai Soulspeak (Oddibles - California) and Beijing’s amazing 15-piece Afrobeat group go back-to-back-to-back at Yugong Yishan for a night of the freshest Funk, out-of-control Afrobeat and raucous Rare Grooves. What do you get when a 15-piece band and a 5-piece DJ crew plus one powerhouse percussionist and 1 crazy beat conductor collide?! Pyrotechnics for eardrums!
So lace up those get down shoes and get up offa your thing with our All Star funk line-up!

Afrokoko Roots is a 15-piece international Afrobeat outfit, formed by Ghanaian multi-instrumentalist and vocalist Sunny Dada. They perform Afrobeat music in the style of Nigerian Afrobeat innovator Fela Kuti, as well as reggae classics and original songs. The band features a four-piece horn section and two dancers, two backup singers, two percussionists, bass player, keyboard player, guitar player and a drummer, which makes for a live performance that is equally exciting sonically as it is visually!
Members of the band hail from Ghana, Nigeria, Uganda, Burundi, The United States, The Philippines, Caribbean, Brazil, Cuba, France, Australia and China. ‘Afrokoko Roots’ are based in Beijing, China.
Jekai Soulspeak (Jekai Luen Liang) has been banging beats with his hands since he was a little snot-nosed kid, in fact his momma used to tell him at the dinner table to stop using chopsticks as drumsticks. Since then, he has studied classical guitar with the LA Guitar Quartet, DJed in various LA hip hop crews, played in various Funk and Jazz groups, and performed with various artists including Lyrics Born, KRS One, Living Legends, etc. He is part of Los Angeles Hip Hop group, The Oddibles, and Qingdao crew, Ding Zhen Ban (Thimble Clan). |

Hope For Haiti Concert
On January 12th, disaster struck the poorest nation in the western hemisphere, with a 7.0 level earthquake centered right in Port-Au-Prince, it’s capital. As the death toll skyrockets and with access to basic necessities still scarce, Haiti is in dire need of funds for both the immediate relief, as well as towards rebuilding.
This February 3rd, at 7:30 pm we’re inviting you to come over to Yugong Yishan to enjoy a very special night of music and dancing, with all the ticket proceeds going directly to those in need! We’ve assembled a great line-up of bands and DJs playing a powerful blend of Afro & Caribbean rhythms; Reggae, Funk, Soul, Ska, Afrobeat, and Drum & Bass. 100% of your 50 RMB entrance ticket, as well as 10% of all bar takings, goes to Partners In Health (www.standwithhaiti.org), a grassroots organization that has been working on the ground in Haiti for over 20 years.
Our goal is to raise 50,000 RMB through tickets and donations, so come and get down to help others get up!
